حَدَّثَنَا عَبْد اللَّهِ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ الْمُقَدَّمِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ زَيْدٍ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ، وَهِشَامٍ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدٍ، عَنْ عَبِيدَةَ، أَنَّ عَلِيًّا، رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ذَكَرَ أَهْلَ النَّهْرَوَانِ فَقَالَ فِيهِمْ رَجُلٌ مُودَنُ الْيَدِ أَوْ مَثْدُونُ الْيَدِ أَوْ مُخْدَجُ الْيَدِ لَوْلَا أَنْ تَبْطَرُوا لَنَبَّأْتُكُمْ مَا وَعَدَ اللَّهُ الَّذِينَ يَقْتُلُونَهُمْ عَلَى لِسَانِ مُحَمَّدٍ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقُلْتُ لِعَلِيٍّ أَأَنْتَ سَمِعْتَهُ قَالَ إِي وَرَبِّ الْكَعْبَةِ.
It was narrated from ‘Abeedah that ‘Ali (رضي الله عنه) mentioned the people of an-Nahrawan. He said: Among them is a man with a defective arm, or an incomplete arm, or a small arm. If you could exercise restraint, I would have told you what Allah promised on the lips of Muhammad (ﷺ) to those who kill them. I said: Did you hear him? He said: Yes, by the Lord of the Ka`bah.

حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنِي مَالِكُ بْنُ عُرْفُطَةَ، سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ خَيْرٍ، قَالَ كُنْتُ عِنْدَ عَلِيٍّ فَأُتِيَ بِكُرْسِيٍّ وَتَوْرٍ قَالَ فَغَسَلَ كَفَّيْهِ ثَلَاثًا وَوَجْهَهُ ثَلَاثًا وَذِرَاعَيْهِ ثَلَاثًا وَمَسَحَ بِرَأْسِهِ وَصَفَ يَحْيَى فَبَدَأَ بِمُقَدَّمِ رَأْسِهِ إِلَى مُؤَخَّرِهِ وَقَالَ وَلَا أَدْرِي أَرَدَّ يَدَهُ أَمْ لَا وَغَسَلَ رِجْلَيْهِ ثُمَّ قَالَ مَنْ أَحَبَّ أَنْ يَنْظُرَ إِلَى وُضُوءِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَهَذَا وُضُوءُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ الْقُطَيْعِيُّ قَالَ لَنَا أَبُو عَبْد الرَّحْمَنِ هَذَا أَخْطَأَ فِيهِ شُعْبَةُ إِنَّمَا هُوَ عَنْ خَالِدِ بْنِ عَلْقَمَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ خَيْرٍ.
Malik bin `Urfutah told me: I heard ‘Abd Khair say: I was with `Ali and a chair and a stone vessel of water were brought. He washed his hands three times, his face three times, his forearms three times, and he wiped his head - Yahya described it: he started at the front of his head and moved to the back. And he said: I do not know whether he brought his hands back to the front or not - and he washed his feet. Then he said: Whoever would like to see the wudoo’ of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), this is the wudoo of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), Abu ‘Abdur-Rahman said: Shu`bah made a mistake with this; rather it was narrated from Khalid bin `Alqamah, from `Abd Khair.

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْد اللَّهِ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو إِسْحَاقَ التِّرْمِذِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا الْأَشْجَعِيُّ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ، عَنْ عَاصِمٍ، عَنْ زِرِّ بْنِ حُبَيْشٍ، عَنْ عَبِيدَةَ السَّلْمَانِيِّ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ، رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ كُنَّا نُرَاهَا الْفَجْرَ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ هِيَ صَلَاةُ الْعَصْرِ يَعْنِي صَلَاةَ الْوُسْطَى.
It was narrated that ‘Ali (رضي الله عنه) said: We thought that it was Fajr, but the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: `It is Asr prayer” - meaning the middle prayer.

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْد اللَّهِ، حَدَّثَنِي عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ الْقَوَارِيرِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْوَاحِدِ بْنِ أَبِي حَزْمٍ، حَدَّثَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي حَسَّانَ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ، رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ الْمُؤْمِنُونَ تَكَافَأُ دِمَاؤُهُمْ وَهُمْ يَدٌ عَلَى مَنْ سِوَاهُمْ يَسْعَى بِذِمَّتِهِمْ أَدْنَاهُمْ أَلَا لَا يُقْتَلُ مُؤْمِنٌ بِكَافِرٍ وَلَا ذُو عَهْدٍ فِي عَهْدِهِ.
It was narrated from ‘Ali (رضي الله عنه) that The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: `The believers are equal in respect of blood and they are one against their enemies; protection given even by the least among them is to be honoured, but no believer is to be killed (in retaliation) for a disbeliever and no one who has a covenant is to be killed during the covenant.`

حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ يُوسُفَ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ، عَنْ جَدَّتِهِ، أَنَّ رَجُلًا، مَرَّ بِهِمْ عَلَى بَعِيرٍ يُوضِعُهُ بِمِنًى فِي أَيَّامِ التَّشْرِيقِ إِنَّهَا أَيَّامُ أَكْلٍ وَشُرْبٍ فَسَأَلْتُ عَنْهُ فَقَالُوا عَلِيُّ بْنُ أَبِي طَالِبٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ.
It was narrated from Yoosuf bin Mas`ood, from his grandmother, that A man passed by them on a camel in Mina during the days of at-Tashreeq (saying): These are days of eating and drinking. I asked who he was and they said: `Ali bin Abi Talib (رضي الله عنه).

حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى، حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي عَرُوبَةَ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ، عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ عُبَادٍ، قَالَ انْطَلَقْتُ أَنَا وَالْأَشْتَرُ، إِلَى عَلِيٍّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ فَقُلْنَا هَلْ عَهِدَ إِلَيْكَ نَبِيُّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ شَيْئًا لَمْ يَعْهَدْهُ إِلَى النَّاسِ عَامَّةً قَالَ لَا إِلَّا مَا فِي كِتَابِي هَذَا قَالَ وَكِتَابٌ فِي قِرَابِ سَيْفِهِ فَإِذَا فِيهِ الْمُؤْمِنُونَ تَكَافَأُ دِمَاؤُهُمْ وَهُمْ يَدٌ عَلَى مَنْ سِوَاهُمْ وَيَسْعَى بِذِمَّتِهِمْ أَدْنَاهُمْ أَلَا لَا يُقْتَلُ مُؤْمِنٌ بِكَافِرٍ وَلَا ذُو عَهْدٍ فِي عَهْدِهِ مَنْ أَحْدَثَ حَدَثًا أَوْ آوَى مُحْدِثًا فَعَلَيْهِ لَعْنَةُ اللَّهِ وَالْمَلَائِكَةِ وَالنَّاسِ أَجْمَعِينَ.
It was narrated that Qais bin ‘Ubad said: I set out with al-Ashtar to go to ‘Ali (رضي الله عنه). We said: Did the Prophet of Allah (ﷺ) tell you something that he did not tell to all the people? He said: No, except what is in this document. He [the narrator] said: A document in the sheath of this sword. In it was said: “The believers are equal in respect of blood and they are one against their enemies; protection given even by the least among them is to be honoured, but no believer is to be killed (in retaliation) for a disbeliever and no one who has a covenant is to be killed during the covenant. Whoever commits an offence or gives refuge to an offender, upon him be the curse of Allah, the angels and all the people.`

حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى، عَنْ هِشَامٍ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدٍ، عَنْ عَبِيدَةَ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ، رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ يَوْمَ الْخَنْدَقِ شَغَلُونَا عَنْ الصَّلَاةِ الْوُسْطَى حَتَّى غَرَبَتْ الشَّمْسُ أَوْ كَادَتْ الشَّمْسُ أَنْ تَغْرُبَ مَلَأَ اللَّهُ أَجْوَافَهُمْ أَوْ قُبُورَهُمْ نَارًا.
It was narrated from ‘Ali (رضي الله عنه) that The Prophet (ﷺ) said on the day of al-Khandaq: `They distracted us from the middle prayer until the sun set - or until the sun was about to set, May Allah fill their stomachs - or their graves - with fire.”

حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى، حَدَّثَنِي أَخِي، عَنْ أَبِي، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ، رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ إِذَا عَطَسَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَلْيَقُلْ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ عَلَى كُلِّ حَالٍ وَلْيُقَلْ لَهُ يَرْحَمُكُمْ اللَّهُ وَلْيَقُلْ هُوَ يَهْدِيكُمُ اللَّهُ وَيُصْلِحُ بَالَكُمْ فَقُلْتُ لَهُ عَنْ أَبِي أَيُّوبَ قَالَ عَلِيٌّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ.
It was narrated from `Ali (رضي الله عنه) that The Prophet (ﷺ) said: `If one of you sneezes, let him say: Praise be to Allah in all situations. Let others say to him; May Allah have mercy on you. And let him say May Allah guide you and rectify your condition.” I said to him: Is it from Abu Ayyoob? He said: `Ali (رضي الله عنه).

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْد اللَّهِ، حَدَّثَنِي أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ الْقَطَّانُ، حَدَّثَنَا أَزْهَرُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَوْنٍ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدٍ، عَنْ عَبِيدَةَ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ، رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ اشْتَكَتْ إِلَيَّ فَاطِمَةُ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا مَجْلَ يَدَيْهَا مِنْ الطَّحْنِ فَأَتَيْنَا النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ فَاطِمَةُ تَشْتَكِي إِلَيْكَ مَجْلَ يَدَيْهَا مِنْ الطَّحْنِ وَتَسْأَلُكَ خَادِمًا فَقَالَ أَلَا أَدُلُّكُمَا عَلَى مَا هُوَ خَيْرٌ لَكُمَا مِنْ خَادِمٍ فَأَمَرَنَا عِنْدَ مَنَامِنَا بِثَلَاثٍ وَثَلَاثِينَ وَثَلَاثٍ وَثَلَاثِينَ وَأَرْبَعٍ وَثَلَاثِينَ مِنْ تَسْبِيحٍ وَتَحْمِيدٍ وَتَكْبِيرٍ.
It was narrated that ‘Ali (رضي الله عنه) said. Fatimah (رضي الله عنها) complained about the marks left on her hands from grinding flour. We came to the Prophet (ﷺ) and I said: O Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), Fatimah is complaining to you about the marks left on her hands from grinding flour and she is asking you for a servant. He said: “Shall I not tell you about something that is better for you than a servant?” and he told us, when going to sleep, to say thirty-three and thirty-three and thirty-four of tasbeeh, tahmeed and takbeer.

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْد اللَّهِ، قَالَ وَجَدْتُ فِي كِتَابِ أَبِي قَالَ أُخْبِرْتُ عَنْ سِنَانِ بْنِ هَارُونَ، حَدَّثَنَا بَيَانٌ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ، رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا رَكَعَ لَوْ وُضِعَ قَدَحٌ مِنْ مَاءٍ عَلَى ظَهْرِهِ لَمْ يُهَرَاقْ.
It was narrated that ‘Ali (رضي الله عنها) said: When the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) bowed, if a glass of water were placed on his back it would not spill.

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْد اللَّهِ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا شَرِيكٌ، عَنْ خَالِدِ بْنِ عَلْقَمَةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ خَيْرٍ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ، رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ تَوَضَّأَ عَلِيٌّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ فَتَمَضْمَضَ ثَلَاثًا وَاسْتَنْشَقَ ثَلَاثًا مِنْ كَفٍّ وَاحِدٍ وَغَسَلَ وَجْهَهُ ثَلَاثًا ثُمَّ أَدْخَلَ يَدَهُ فِي الرَّكْوَةِ فَمَسَحَ رَأْسَهُ وَغَسَلَ رِجْلَيْهِ ثُمَّ قَالَ هَذَا وُضُوءُ نَبِيِّكُمْ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ.
It was narrated that ‘Ali (رضي الله عنها) did wudoo’, he rinsed his mouth three times and his nose three times from one handful of water, and he washed his face three times, then he put his hand in the vessel, then he wiped his head and washed his feet. Then he said: This is the wudoo’ of your Prophet. (ﷺ)

حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ هَانِئِ بْنِ هَانِئٍ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ، رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ عَمَّارًا، اسْتَأْذَنَ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ الطَّيِّبُ الْمُطَيَّبُ.
It was narrated from `Ali (رضي الله عنه) that ‘Ammar asked permission to enter upon the Prophet (ﷺ) and he said: `The good one, the purified one.”

حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى يَعْنِي ابْنَ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ، أَنْبَأَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ، قَالَ يَحْيَى قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي مَنْصُورٌ، عَنْ رِبْعِيٍّ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ عَلِيًّا، رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ يَقُولُ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَا تَكْذِبُوا عَلَيَّ فَإِنَّهُ مَنْ يَكْذِبْ عَلَيَّ يَلِجْ النَّارَ قَالَ حَجَّاجٌ قُلْتُ لِشُعْبَةَ هَلْ أَدْرَكَ عَلِيًّا قَالَ نَعَمْ حَدَّثَنِي عَنْ عَلِيٍّ وَلَمْ يَقُلْ سَمِعَ. حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ عَنْ رِبْعِيِّ بْنِ حِرَاشٍ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ عَلِيًّا رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ يَخْطُبُ يَقُولُ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَذَكَرَ مِثْلَهُ.
It was narrated that Rib`i said: I heard `Ali (رضي الله عنه) say: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “Do not tell lies about me, because whoever tells a lie about me will enter Hell.” Hajjaj said: I said to Shu`bah: Did he meet `Ali? He said. Yes; he narrated it to me from ‘Ali. And he did not say he heard it. It was narrated from Rib’i bin Hirash that he heard `Ali (رضي الله عنه) deliver a khutbah; he said: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said... and he narrated a similar report.

حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ، أَخْبَرَنِي حَسَنُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ، وَعَبْدُ الْكَرِيمِ، أَنَّ مُجَاهِدًا، أَخْبَرَهُمَا أَنَّ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ أَبِي لَيْلَى أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّ عَلِيًّا رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَمَرَهُ أَنْ يَقُومَ عَلَى بُدْنِهِ وَأَمَرَهُ أَنْ يَقْسِمَ بُدْنَهُ كُلَّهَا لُحُومَهَا وَجُلُودَهَا وَجِلَالَهَا وَلَا يُعْطِيَ فِي جِزَارَتِهَا مِنْهَا شَيْئًا. حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ أَنْبَأَنَا مَعْمَرٌ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْكَرِيمِ فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ وَقَالَ نَحْنُ نُعْطِيهِ مِنْ عِنْدِنَا الْأَجْرَ.
`Abdur-Rahman bin Abi Laila narrated that ‘Ali (رضي الله عنه) told him that the Prophet (ﷺ) told him to be in charge of the sacrificial animals, and he instructed him to distribute all of his sacrifice; its meat, its skin and its blankets, and not to give the butcher any of it. It was narrated from `Abdul-Kareem - and he narrated the same hadeeth. And he said: We will pay his wages ourselves

حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى، عَنِ ابْنِ عَجْلَانَ، حَدَّثَنِي إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ حُنَيْنٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ، رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ نَهَانِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ خَاتَمِ الذَّهَبِ وَأَنْ أَقْرَأَ وَأَنَا رَاكِعٌ وَعَنْ الْقَسِّيِّ وَالْمُعَصْفَرِ.
It was narrated that `Ali (رضي الله عنه) said: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) forbade me to wear gold rings, to recite Qur`an whilst bowing, and (to wear) a blend of linen and silk or clothes dyed with safflower.

حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، حَدَّثَنِي شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ مَيْسَرَةَ، عَنِ النَّزَّالِ بْنِ سَبْرَةَ، أَنَّ عَلِيًّا، رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ لَمَّا صَلَّى الظُّهْرَ دَعَا بِكُوزٍ مِنْ مَاءٍ فِي الرَّحَبَةِ فَشَرِبَ وَهُوَ قَائِمٌ ثُمَّ قَالَ إِنَّ رِجَالًا يَكْرَهُونَ هَذَا وَإِنِّي رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَعَلَ كَالَّذِي رَأَيْتُمُونِي فَعَلْتُ ثُمَّ تَمَسَّحَ بِفَضْلِهِ وَقَالَ هَذَا وُضُوءُ مَنْ لَمْ يُحْدِثْ.
It was narrated from an-Nazzal bin Sabrah that When ‘Ali (رضي الله عنه) prayed Zuhr, he called for a vessel of water in ar-Rahbah and drank whilst standing. Then he said: Some men dislike this, but I saw the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) do what you have seen me do. Then he wiped himself with what was left over and said: This is the wudoo’ of one who has not broken his wudoo’.

حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَقِيلٍ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ ابْنِ الْحَنَفِيَّةِ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِفْتَاحُ الصَّلَاةِ الطُّهُورُ وَتَحْرِيمُهَا التَّكْبِيرُ وَتَحْلِيلُهَا التَّسْلِيمُ.
It was narrated from Muhammad Ibn al-Hanafiyyah that his father said: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “The key to prayer is purification; entering it is takbeer and exiting it is tasleem.”
English grade: Sahih because of corroborating evidence; its isnad is Hasan]
حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عُقْبَةَ أَبُو كِبْرَانَ الْمُرَادِيُّ، سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ خَيْرٍ، يَقُولُ قَالَ عَلِيٌّ أَلَا أُرِيكُمْ وُضُوءَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ثُمَّ تَوَضَّأَ ثَلَاثًا ثَلَاثًا.
Al-Hasan bin `Uqbah Abu Kibran al-Muradi told us: I heard `Abd Khair say: `Ali said: Shall I not show you the wudoo’ of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) Then he did wudoo’ washing each part three times.

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْد اللَّهِ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ، حَدَّثَنَا مُسْهِرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ سَلْعٍ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ بْنُ سَلْعٍ، قَالَ كَانَ عَبْدُ خَيْرٍ يَؤُمُّنَا فِي الْفَجْرِ فَقَالَ صَلَّيْنَا يَوْمًا الْفَجْرَ خَلْفَ عَلِيٍّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ فَلَمَّا سَلَّمَ قَامَ وَقُمْنَا مَعَهُ فَجَاءَ يَمْشِي حَتَّى انْتَهَى إِلَى الرَّحَبَةِ فَجَلَسَ وَأَسْنَدَ ظَهْرَهُ إِلَى الْحَائِطِ ثُمَّ رَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ فَقَالَ يَا قَنْبَرُ ائْتِنِي بِالرَّكْوَةِ وَالطَّسْتِ ثُمَّ قَالَ لَهُ صُبَّ فَصَبَّ عَلَيْهِ فَغَسَلَ كَفَّهُ ثَلَاثًا وَأَدْخَلَ كَفَّهُ الْيُمْنَى فَمَضْمَضَ وَاسْتَنْشَقَ ثَلَاثًا ثُمَّ أَدْخَلَ كَفَّيْهِ فَغَسَلَ وَجْهَهُ ثَلَاثًا ثُمَّ أَدْخَلَ كَفَّهُ الْيُمْنَى فَغَسَلَ ذِرَاعَهُ الْأَيْمَنَ ثَلَاثًا ثُمَّ غَسَلَ ذِرَاعَهُ الْأَيْسَرَ ثَلَاثًا فَقَالَ هَذَا وُضُوءُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ.
`Abdul-Malik bin Sal` said: ‘Abd Khair used to lead us in Fajr prayer, and he said: One day we Prayed Fajr behind `Ali (رضي الله عنه) and when he said the salam he got up and we got up with him. Then he walked until he reached ar-Rahbah where he sat down and leaned his back against the wall. Then he raised his head and said: O Qanbar, bring me the scoop and the big vessel. Then he said to him: Pour (the water). So he poured water for him. He washed his hands three times, then he put his right hand in the vessel and rinsed his mouth and nose three times. Then he put his hand in the vessel and washed his face three times, Then he put his right hand in the vessel and washed his right arm three times, then he washed his left arm three times, And he said: This is the wudoo’ of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ).

حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، قَالَ قَالَ عَلِيٌّ كُنْتُ رَجُلًا مَذَّاءً وَكُنْتُ أَسْتَحِي أَنْ أَسْأَلَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لِمَكَانِ ابْنَتِهِ فَأَمَرْتُ الْمِقْدَادَ فَسَأَلَهُ فَقَالَ يَغْسِلُ ذَكَرَهُ وَأُنْثَيَيْهِ وَيَتَوَضَّأُ.
‘Ali said: I was a man who emitted a great deal of madhi and I felt too shy to ask the Prophet (ﷺ) [about that] because of his daughter, so I told al-Miqdad to ask him and he said: `Let him wash his private part and testicles and do wudoo’.

حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ، عَنْ مُنْذِرٍ أَبِي يَعْلَى، عَنْ ابْنِ الْحَنَفِيَّةِ، أَنَّ عَلِيًّا، رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَمَرَ الْمِقْدَادَ فَسَأَلَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ الْمَذْيِ فَقَالَ يَتَوَضَّأُ.
It was narrated from Ibn al-Hanafiyyah that `Ali (رضي الله عنه) told al-Miqdad to ask the Prophet (ﷺ) about madhi and he said: `Let him do wudoo`.`

حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مُرَّةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ سَلِمَةَ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ، رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقْضِي الْحَاجَةَ فَيَأْكُلُ مَعَنَا اللَّحْمَ وَيَقْرَأُ الْقُرْآنَ وَلَمْ يَكُنْ يَحْجِزُهُ أَوْ يَحْجُبُهُ إِلَّا الْجَنَابَةُ.
It was narrated that ‘Ali (رضي الله عنه) said: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) would relieve himself, then eat meat with us and recite Qur`an, and nothing stopped him or prevented him (from reciting Qur`an) except janabah.

حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، وَعَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ ضَمْرَةَ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ، رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُصَلِّي عَلَى كُلِّ أَثَرِ صَلَاةٍ مَكْتُوبَةٍ رَكْعَتَيْنِ إِلَّا الْفَجْرَ وَالْعَصْرَ وَقَالَ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ فِي دُبُرِ كُلِّ صَلَاةٍ.
It was narrated that ‘Ali (رضي الله عنه) said: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to pray two rak`ahs following every prescribed prayer except Fajr and ‘Asr. ‘Abdur-Rahman said: after every prayer.

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْد اللَّهِ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ، وَأَبُو خَيْثَمَةَ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ خَيْرٍ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ، قَالَ كُنْتُ أَرَى أَنَّ بَاطِنَ، الْقَدَمَيْنِ أَحَقُّ بِالْمَسْحِ مِنْ ظَاهِرِهِمَا حَتَّى رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَمْسَحُ ظَاهِرَهُمَا.
It was narrated that ‘Ali (رضي الله عنه) said: I used to think that the bottoms of the feet were more deserving of being wiped than the tops, until I saw the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) wiping their tops.

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْد اللَّهِ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ أَبِي السَّوْدَاءِ، عَنْ ابْنِ عَبْدِ خَيْرٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، قَالَ رَأَيْتُ عَلِيًّا رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ تَوَضَّأَ فَغَسَلَ ظُهُورَ قَدَمَيْهِ وَقَالَ لَوْلَا أَنِّي رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَغْسِلُ ظُهُورَ قَدَمَيْهِ لَظَنَنْتُ أَنَّ بُطُونَهُمَا أَحَقُّ بِالْغَسْلِ.
It was narrated from Ibn ‘Abd Khair that his father said: I saw ‘Ali (رضي الله عنه) doing wudoo’. He washed the tops of his feet and said: Were it not that I saw the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) washing the tops of his feet I would have thought that the bottoms of the feet were more deserving of being washed.
