{"id":34205,"collection_id":7,"collection":"forty","collection_name":"40 Hadith an-Nawawi","book_number":"1","bab_id":0.0,"english_bab_number":null,"arabic_bab_number":null,"hadith_number":"27","our_hadith_number":27,"arabic_urn":1500270,"arabic_bab_name":null,"arabic_text":"عَنْ النَّوَّاسِ بْنِ سَمْعَانَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه و سلم قَالَ: \"الْبِرُّ حُسْنُ الْخُلُقِ، وَالْإِثْمُ مَا حَاكَ فِي صَدْرِك، وَكَرِهْت أَنْ يَطَّلِعَ عَلَيْهِ النَّاسُ\" رَوَاهُ مُسْلِمٌ [رَوَاهُ مُسْلِمٌ]. وَعَنْ وَابِصَةَ بْنِ مَعْبَدٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: أَتَيْت رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه و سلم فَقَالَ: \"جِئْتَ تَسْأَلُ عَنْ الْبِرِّ؟ قُلْت: نَعَمْ. فقَالَ: استفت قلبك، الْبِرُّ مَا اطْمَأَنَّتْ إلَيْهِ النَّفْسُ، وَاطْمَأَنَّ إلَيْهِ الْقَلْبُ، وَالْإِثْمُ مَا حَاكَ فِي النَّفْسِ وَتَرَدَّدَ فِي الصَّدْرِ، وَإِنْ أَفْتَاك النَّاسُ وَأَفْتَوْك\" . حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ، رَوَيْنَاهُ في مُسْنَدَي الْإِمَامَيْنِ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ حَنْبَلٍ [رقم:4/227]، وَالدَّارِمِيّ [2/246] بِإِسْنَادٍ حَسَنٍ.","arabic_transliteration":"'an alnnawwaasi bni sam'aana radiya allhu 'anhu 'an alnnabiyyi sly allh 'lyh w slm qaala: \"albirru husnu alkhuluqi، waal'ithmu maa haaka fiy sadrik، wakariht 'an yattali'a 'alayhi alnnaasu\" rawaahu muslimun [رَوَاهُ مُسْلِمٌ]. wa'an waabisaha bni ma'badin radiya allhu 'anhu qaala: 'atayt rasuwla alllahi sly allh 'lyh w slm faqaala: \"ji'ta tas'alu 'an albirri؟ qult: na'am. fqaala: astft qlbk، albirru maa atma'annat 'layhi alnnafsu، waatma'anna 'layhi alqalbu، waal'ithmu maa haaka fiy alnnafsi wataraddada fiy alssadri، wa'in 'aftaak alnnaasu wa'aftawk\" . hadiythun hasanun، rawaynaahu fy musnaday al'imaamayni 'ahmada bni hanbalin [رقم:4/227]، waalddaarimiyy [2/246] bi'isnaadin hasanin.","arabic_grade":"","english_urn":1400270,"english_bab_name":null,"english_text":"

On the authority of an-Nawas bin Sam’an (may Allah be pleased with him), that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:\n\nRighteousness is in good character, and wrongdoing is that which wavers in your soul, and which you dislike people finding out about.\n\n[Muslim]

And on the authority of Wabisah bin Ma’bad (may Allah be pleased with him) who said:\n\nI came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and he (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, “You have come to ask about righteousness.” I said, “Yes.” He (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, “Consult your heart. Righteousness is that about which the soul feels at ease and the heart feels tranquil. And wrongdoing is that which wavers in the soul and causes uneasiness in the breast, even though people have repeatedly given their legal opinion [in its favour].”
